Time Paradox
20min, 16mm, 2K LED display, color, stereo sound, 2024
Time Paradox (2024) questions how museology can represent and historicize worlds after catastrophe—prehistoric worlds before humans. Created in collaboration with the Museum für Naturkunde (MfN) in Berlin, the work centers on a dinosaur tailbone cataloged as “MBR 19.” Borrowing the fictional voice of MBR 19, it traces the fossil’s journey from prehistory to its excavation in Tendaguru, Tanzania, and later to its reconstruction as a museum monument and 3D archive. Shot on 16mm film, the footage is interwoven with 3D archaeological data and juxtaposed with the “time-travel” notes of Tanzanian excavators, traversing the temporalities of different media. Meanwhile, the researchers remain silent, continuing to piece together the puzzle of time.
