As the sun sets on Earth, Mars rovers wake up and navigate according to their planned routes. They ascertain their own locations using photographs they take. Cartography of Night I is a cinematic map constructed from photographs the rovers captured of Mars' surface. Every image and coordinate set correspond to an actual location on Mars and feel out the world of the night.

Night Operators is a fiction that takes the actual stories of Mars rover operators as its motif. The gestures of the choreographers call forth the movements of mapping the night, or the unconscious of the machines.
