eek
40min, 33rpm, transparent LP record, 2021
The eek record (LP) reverses the 20th century’s emblematic anthropological project, the Golden Records (1977). It attempts to establish a seemingly impossible dialogue with entities beyond the human world. Minha Park and Ryu Hankil each devise their own sonic methods to solve this conundrum. Ryu Hankil creates sound-greetings by excluding the main sinusoid indicated as human language from the Golden Record’s Greetings in 55 languages. On the other hand, Minha Park’s TomOSynCaNana transforms the nucleic sequence of viruses into a sonic score, letting us to hear their rhythms and vibrations.
