Instead of sending the eek (2021) record directly into space as was done with the Golden Records (1977), Minha Park created this performance while contemplating how to play eek on Earth. The LP record rotates at 33rpm, vibrating to emit sound, the mechanism of which is like a star’s orbit from Park’s perspective. She orchestrated a performance that allowed various cosmic landscapes to unfold on the surface of the transparent record, using diverse lighting techniques. As the beams of light fuse with the record‘s orbit and surface, the record itself transforms into a star.
